SSH Raspberry Pi

SSH enables us to remotely send command to the Raspberry Pi. For SSH we need to make sure that the Raspberry Pi is connected on the network.

To connect the Raspberry on the network, we can use a Wifi USB adapter or use an Ethernet cable. If we use an Ethernet cable then we need to connect one end of the ethernet cable to the wireless router and the other end to the Raspberry Pi.

Now we need to boot Raspberry Pi and find out the IP address. Once Raspberry Pi boots, open LXTerminal and type the following code.

sudo ifconfig

This will list down details of all interfaces connected to the Raspberry Pi. Note down the IP address.

RPi ifconfig

RPi ifconfig

Its SSH time. If you use Windows then you need Putty client for performing SSH. For Mac and Linux users, just open Terminal and type…

ssh pi@yourip

To confirm authenticity type yes.

Now type the password as raspberry. The password will not be visible. Just type and press enter.

Once this is done, you have successfully SSHed into the Raspberry Pi. Type exit to release connection.
